BULK WATER SUPPLY SHUTDOWN
29 April 2025
On the 30th of April the NMBM requires a 24hr shutdown of the Kariega bulk supply pipeline to replace a bulk meter as well as affect leak repairs.
This will assist with increased efficiency in monitoring and operations.

WATER DISRUPTION (PLANNED MAINTENANCE) MARKMAN
29 April 2025
The NMBM wishes to advise residents of a water shutdown in the Markman area (Studebaker Street) to take place 06 May 2025.
This shutdown is required in order to install a new connection. The foreseen closure will be affected from 09:00 to 13:00. The teams will expose the main line on Monday the 5th.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION INVITATION AND COMMENTS ON THE REVIEWED PROPERTY RATES POLICY FOR THE 2025/26 FINANCIAL YEAR
Notice is hereby given that the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has, in terms of section 5 of the Local Government: Municipal Property Rates Act, reviewed its Property Rates Policy. On Thursday, 27 March 2025, the Council of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality noted the reviewed Property Rates Policy for the 2025/26 financial year.
The reviewed Property Rates Policy for the 2025/26 financial year will be available for inspection in all municipal libraries, Customer Care centres, as well as at the IDP Office, ground floor, Noninzi Luzipho Building, cnr John Kani Road (previously known as Whites Road) and Baakens Street, Port Elizabeth, or click here to view the policy document online.
Comments on the reviewed Property Rates Policy for the 2025/26 financial year may be hand delivered to the IDP office, which is situated in the Noninzi Luzipho Building, cnr of John Kani Road (Previously known as Whites Road) and Baakens Street, Port Elizabeth or emailed to idpoffice@mandelametro.gov.za. All comments must be submitted by no later than Friday, 16 May 2025.

PLANNED MAINTENANCE - WATER SHUTDOWN CHURCHILL SYSTEM
21 April 2025
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMBM) hereby informs residents of a planned 24-hour water shutdown affecting areas supplied by the Churchill System.
This essential interruption is necessary to conduct various planned maintenance and upgrade activities along the Churchill system to ensure the long-term reliability and efficiency of our water supply infrastructure.
The shutdown is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, and will last for approximately 24 hours.
The Municipality is taking all necessary measures to ensure that reservoir levels are maximised prior to the shutdown to mitigate the impact on residents. However, the following areas are likely to experience low water pressure or no water supply during this period:
• Walmer 7th Avenue up to 17th Avenue
- ?Walmer township
- ?Parts of Walmer heights
- ?Walmer downs
- ?Charlotte
- ?Overbaakens
- Newton park
- ?Parts of Fairview suburb
- Higher lying areas of Schauderville

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to inform residents that while the team was busy with fault-finding following the power outage, they discovered a cable fault between Ngwekazi Dip and Ngekwazi Church substation. Supply has been restored to certain parts of Zwide, however, the following 8 substations are still off due to the cable fault:

* Qeqe1
* Konga
* Vabasa
* Mabope Mini
* Maboya
* Stadium
* Mbane1
The team will continue working around the clock to restore power supply as soon as possible.
